"I'm seriously thinking of spending about £6000 ($10,000) on a new turntable/arm/cartridge with phono preamp.
I've currently got a modified Thorens TD160 with a rewired SME Series III and Shure V15 IV working into the MM input of a Musical Fidelity Nuvista. I put it on yesterday after a break of many months and was fairly pleased with the sound (old Beatles stuff - UK Parlophone and Apple) but realise that with a bit of expenditure it could sound a lot better.
In the UK getting a turntable demo is probably about as likely as it is in the USofA so I can only really go by reviews and the expertise of SH forum members.
I've been looking at Origin Live, Clearaudio, Nottingham Analogue, SME, etc.
Anyone have any experience of these and/or other suggestions.
This may seem a little mad to you but my only stipulation is nothing made in or by companies from the following countries: Japan, Norway, Denmark.
The reason - whaling.
Thanks in anticipation of your help"
