Bloomberg: Gulf states intend to advance Trump's plan even without Hamas cooperation
The Gulf states have announced they intend to advance Trump's 21-point plan even without Hamas cooperation, Bloomberg reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, the states intend to act on Article 17 of the plan, which states that even if Hamas rejects or delays the proposal, Israel will transfer "terror-free zones" to a temporary international stabilization force. The report also said that progress without Hamas' consent could prove to be "particularly complex."
The report also said that Gulf officials acknowledge that the plan is incomplete and does not include how terror-free zones are defined, what is the composition of the international force, when it will be deployed to the Strip and what is the relationship between the deployment of an international stabilization force and the dismantling of Hamas power in the Strip.
A Gulf official described it as the best plan since the start of the war and said that "no one is willing to waste the opportunity."
