Viktig (vel...) å skille mellom førsteutgave og førstepressing også.
En førstepressing er strengt tatt de kopiene av førsteutgaven som ble presset med de første stamper(mother)-ene.
"
Original (OG):
An “original”, or a “first issue” of an album, is just that. A copy of an album from when it was first released. There can be different first issues made for different markets. For example, the copies for the American market can be pressed in the USA, while the copies sold in Europe can be pressed in the Czech Republic. Both will be first issues or originals. A “first issue” should not be confused with “first pressing”, but often is.
First pressing:
When manufacturing vinyl records, the recorded sound is first engraved or “cut” into a master disc (one for each record side) as the grooves we know and love. Then that master is coated with silver and nickel. The silver/nickel is peeled off, and that silver/nickel disc, is the “stamper”, or the actual mould used to press vinyl records. (The stampers for both record sides together in a press make the “matrix”.) “First pressings” are the records pressed with the first set of stampers from a master. These are sought after because both stampers and masters wear out and get replaced, and first pressings are made when they are both in pristine condition. That’s why an early pressing sounds better than a later one. (At least in theory.) Often the most attractive version for collectors and audiophiles."
Hvis du finner matrisekoden, altså teksten/tegnene som er risset/gravert inn mellom lead out-rillene innerst på plata, kan du søke opp denne på Discogs, så finner du ut hvilken pressing/utgave du har.
