Jaco Pastorius Live In New York City - 16th June, 1974 - Limited Edition (VINYL - Hvit)



Format: Clear vinyl / in clear plastic sleeve with red lettering.
This historic recording was actually made two years earlier than Jaco Pastorius’ debut-LP, Jaco. Here Paul Bley gives Pastorius the opportunity to lead his own session featuring a young Pat Metheny on guitar (also one of Metheny’s first recordings), Paul Bley on keyboards and Bruce Ditmas on drums.
The songs are Carla Bley / Paul Bley penned tracks except for Annette Peacock’s “Blood”.

Following a week-long bass seminar, Jazz Hall of Famer and acclaimed bassist, Jaco Pastorius, along with drummer Rashied Ali (best known for his work with Coltrane) gave this informal live concert.
Here Pastorius plays two of his own songs, “Slang” and “Continuum”, along with Coltrane’s “Naima”, Hendrix’s “Purple Haze”, and McCartney’s “Blackbird”, among others. Pastorius is at the top of his game here, which means some of the best electric bass playing you’ll ever hear.

Allan Edvall er en av de virkelig store! Nesten synd at fx "Sundstrøm sunger Edval"l er "bedre" enn samlinga av Edvalls låter. Hans samlede verker er innspilt nesten anti hifi. Utrolig ærlig men lite "demo" vennlig. Veldig tørt og nakent. Risikerer at folk styrer unna før de oppdager hvilken stor poet og låtskriver vi hadde i Allan Edvall. Vil alltid være en av mine store!

Streng arbeidsuke, avsluttes med saftig overtid pg.a bedriten eurovision. En alt for forsinket platespilling på byen, heldigvis i kompaniskap med kompiser. 6 brune halve og godmuzak i offentligheten, vel hjemme, og som så ofte ellers, Gene Clark - "No Other" på tallerkenen. Flaske Chablis og og noen bruninger til, før køya lokker en familiefri mann denne morgen. Avspasserer selvsagt morgendagen, en av årets viktigste konserter på gang i tiggerstaden, følges opp med en kveld i Nidaros by........ (same shit, new "wrapping")
