Everything around us is constantly getting bigger and more powerful. Even if we do not need it. The endless craving for higher numbers became the nature of us, because we think that bigger is better. But real value rarely follows.

Before the Asterisk we had no purist integrated amplifier. An amp that only works as an amp, and not a DAC, not a headphone amplifier, not a phono stage, and not a powerhouse when upgraded with an external power supply. We gave the Asterisk no other task than driving a single pair of small speakers from an analog source. And it is flawless in this.

Pushing the boundaries of Transcap is a hard task – in both directions. For the Asterisk we needed to reach back to our most essential needs, and clarify our vision of music reproduction. What truly matters? How do we want to experience this? Well…

The Asterisk is made for easy listening. Does not matter if it is worktime or in the evening, just one track or two albums, it is an instant source of joy and it elevates our spirit rapidly. No A/B tests, no messing with the cables, just pure music, immediately, anytime. A best friend with lots of individuality and support. Nothing less.

SKILLFULLY HANDCRAFTED
Wherever possible we use hand tools and manual labour to build our amplifiers, including the hand soldering of the PCBs. This is how we ensure that every small component receives a dedicated attention. Every amplifier is unique in a way and incorporates a piece of our soul in its circuits.

The Asterisk has 2x 2.200 uF filtering and 2x 2.200 uF output capacitors, paired with a custom audio-grade 120 VA transformer. The current delivery and filtering options adjusted strongly to the ‘Charming’ side with fast transient response and enriched lower frequencies.

POWER DELIVERY
Thanks to Transcap technology this amplifier delivers more percieved sound energy than the nominal power level suggests. Paired with loudspeakers of average efficiency, the Asterisk can fill the room with more than enough sound to feel deeply immersed in music.

FUN FACT
Designing a small amp is a challenging task, more so than creating a powerful one. The Asterisk helped us push the boundaries of Transcap technology and create an astonishingly captivating sound, even at lower volume levels.
