"Hi, I have had a chance to listen briefly to an SHM-SACD sampler. I compared it with an already existing hybrid SACD version of the same title but I'm not allowed to tell which title I listened to and I'm no audio expert so all I can say is that:
the SHM-SACD version was brighter, sharper, more transparent and better in separation. I could immediately hear an excessive amount of hiss noise and it sounded sibilant at some places. Also to my ears it was as if treble boosted considerably.
Obviously they used different master tapes, different engineers, different tools and wires, different ways to store data(compression wise) and different material(SHM), so this comparison may be meaningless to many here but anyway...
FWIW, this SHM-SACD I heard was from Japan analogue master tapes."
