Hi, I am form Slovakia so I will write in english. I need some help. I read about upgrade mods of Electrocompaniet EC 4.5 here:
http://www.hifisentralen.no/forumet...ppgradering-av-electrocompaniet-ec-4-5-a.html
Some guys (Lars, Hagr, R.Solhaug) write that biggest improvement is if changing 4 DC filtering capacitor with Intertechnik KPSN. So on your recomendation I did buy these caps: http://www.intertechnik.de/Lautsprec...277,48565.html. But now I see that Audyn KPSN Caps are much bigger that those original in EC 4.5. There is not enough space for them and pin distance is also 1cm bigger on Audyn. I am not technical guy. What am I missing here? Could you help me please? Thanks.
Regards
Marek

I'm not a technical guy either, but ECS Holdings in Lillestrøm can maybe help you. They do upgrades on EC. Google them and you find their homepage.

One recpected amp designer from Slovakia told me, that this recapping is far from optimal. He said that Audyn KPSN caps is ideal for speaker crossovers and not for amplifiers, and that if someone did this recapping, those big Audyn caps must be lifted in the air over other components and supported/fixed by something avoiding unexptected moving or falling, or they must be placed on the PCB somewhere where is more space and linked with long cables - both solutions, he said, are amaterish and decreasing resale value of the amp. I am really confused and I hope that I dont waste my money.

My tip is to place the caps where there are more place in the amplifier, and the wire them/link them to the pcb. If you like the sound, you are happy, when you are going to sell the amp, solder the old caps back again.

Have you bought the 160 volt version or a cap with higher voltage?
