Fred Wesley
FUNK FOR YOUR ASS (2003)
Fred Wesley was born in Columpus (Georgia) at 1943 and raised in Mobile (Alabama). As a child took piano and trumbet lessons and at the age of 12 he switched to trombone. In 60's and 70's he was a pivotal member of James Brown's bands and later he served as band leader and and musical director of J.Brown's bands. At 1975 started playing with George Clinton's various Parliament-Funkadelic projects. In 1978 he joined the Count Basie Orchestra and released his first jazz album (To Someone 1988) as a leader. From 2004 to 2006 Wesley served as an adjunct professor in the Jazz Studies.
