Innertier, IMO!To me the entire concept of "transparent" is a myth. Every mic has a sound. Every pre, console, EQ, comp, power amp, speaker, and yes, converter has a sound. There is no transparent. The entire process of recording and reproducing cannot be transparent because we're taking sound in a 3 dimensional acoustic space, forcing it through a single point (diaphragm) then forcing it through 2 single points (stereo speakers) in a different acoustic space. It never sounds like the source. And no one even knows what the source sounded like anyway unless they were in the room. All we can do is make it sound as 'good' as possible, and that's all that matters. Choose whatever gear does that and forget about transparent. No such thing. Almost nobody listens to a song and remarks on how transparent it sounds. Most people will remark on how good it sounds.
