Aquaplas is water soluble-up to a point, you have to get the mixture just right or it wont coagulate.
I aquaplassed some 2435 Be dias using a sable chisel brush and an aunt sally type( a turntable will do)rig to rotate the dia as you brush it on.
The trick is to weigh out the aquaplas paste(0.5gram in my case), add water so it emulsifies just right-you need to practice on the bottom of coke cans first!. You don't lose HF but you do sacrifice around 3dB in sensitivity.
They do sound smoother with aquaplas-time domain distortion is where its does its work according to Greg Timbers at JBL.
I've seen a few done that look like small lumps in a dark die-not entirely sure the effect-aim for as smooth, light and even coating as possible. Pure water may be a good idea too.
Be warned though, once it dries that's it-it wont come off.
