Har de Aries folka konstruert et nytt rør, eller har de bare koblet en triode inverted?
Ja det er ikke så lett å bli klok på. De skriver som de har funnet opp en helt ny type rør.

We use an existing tube,however,as you can imagine it is not that simple.
First,out of the thousands of triode types out there,you have to find a triode that can satisfy the criteria that can allow the tube to operate in inverted mode.Only a handful are suitable,and out of those almost all they are not ideal,except one or two.
Of the tube type we discovered,even then,we have to find tubes that their tolerances regarding the grid/plate/cathode distances satisfy these criteria.
I will give you an practical example.
Let's say we have a batch of 100 tubes of the mentioned type,destined to be used as inverted triodes.When tested as normal triodes, 70/100 will present current and transfer curve matching within 5%. Of the same 70 tubes,matched within 5% as normal triodes, when tested as inverted triodes, their transfer curves will deviate up to 80% out of the average.So you can see, structure geometries tolerances,which create the 5% spread,same tolerances will create 80% of transfer spread in inverted triode.
Inverted triode is uncharted waters,and we spend 5 years in research,as almost no data existed before.But we believe we found something very special,and the Impera is a showcase of this exciting technology.
