    Yacht Rock

Yacht Rock is an online video series following the fictionalized lives and careers of American soft rock stars of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yacht_Rock

    1. "What a Fool Believes"
In the pilot episode, Kenny Loggins, under the guidance of Koko Goldstein, reaches out to a struggling Michael McDonald, who's having trouble writing a smooth hit for his band the Doobie Brothers.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMTI8vg7A5U

    2. "Keep the Fire"
Loggins and McDonald pair up against the duo Hall & Oates for a songwriting competition. Koko is accidentally impaled by his lucky harpoon during the ensuing melee, but is at peace before his death by hearing the smoothest song ever sung by a young Christopher Cross.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLFrzkTHP18

    3. "I'm Alright"
As everyone grieves Koko's death, Loggins lashes out at McDonald and "smooth music" as a whole, causing a rift between the two. An entertainment executive behind the movie Caddyshack demands that the movie's director, Harold Ramis, obtain Loggins' talents to write the movie's theme song. Ramis takes advantage of an angry and confused Loggins and gets him to write and record the hard rock song "I'm Alright" much to McDonald's dismay.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EatDR9uHD3g

    4. "Rosanna"
Steve Porcaro (Steve Agee), the keyboard player of the band Toto, is asked by his girlfriend, Rosanna Arquette, to write a song about her, and she wants him to have Michael McDonald sing on the track. Discouraged by McDonald's disdain for his band, Porcaro devises a three-step plan to make it happen.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Lnt0h7P-Uk

    5. "Believe in It"
Toto has been commissioned to write a smooth song for Michael Jackson's Thriller, but Jackson rejects the band, believing after working with Eddie Van Halen on Beat It that such material is in his past. Fearing that Jackson will destroy "smooth music" for a decade, Porcaro turns to McDonald, Loggins, Skunk Baxter, Cross, and Vincent Price (James Adomian), to summon up Koko's ghost for help writing Human Nature.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8if4LV_SzE

    6. "The Seed Drill"
"Hollywood" Steve's father demands that Steve stop wasting his time on Yacht Rock, and regales a historic tale of Jethro Tull, which is very similar to episode one.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZBXNtMKJp4

    7. "I Keep Forgettin'"
McDonald and Loggins make a bet about McDonald's new song, "I Keep Forgettin' (Every Time You're Near)", that takes a decade to resolve. Ten years later, Long Beach-based rappers Warren G and Nate Dogg struggle with creating smooth rap (yacht rap), and only when they kidnap McDonald, is there a solution to everyone's problems.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnahCol3lXs

    8. "Gino (the Manager)"
"Hollywood" Steve returns to the very beginning, where Doobie Brothers producer Ted Templeman explains his dream about the origin of "the smoothest rock [he's] ever heard" to Skunk Baxter over lunch. Baxter suggests seeing Koko about it, and Templeman starts seeing his dream come into fruition as he meets a young McDonald, then a background singer for Steely Dan, being talked into joining the Doobie Brothers by Steely Dan and Koko, Loggins showing signs of his imminent break from Messina and solo stardom, and an effeminate Hall and Oates with a very familiar looking manager named Gino, who tries to bully McDonald and Loggins into employing him as a manager. When they refuse, he plots revenge.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4FT5xB_oyE (sensuert av BMG... argh!)

    9. "Runnin' with the Devil"
Van Halen puts a curse on Ted Templeman to force him to produce their hard rock song. In a subplot, Loggins loses his car keys and has everyone in the studio helping him look. Comedian Drew Carey makes a cameo appearance.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGjL4hsBs3M

    10. "FM"
Steely Dan and the Eagles settle a long-time, childish feud with a hit song.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yb_XEwgfmDk

    11. "Footloose"
Jimmy Buffett is convinced by Kevin Bacon and Gene Balboa to trick Loggins into making yet another movie song. He is subsequently kidnapped by Buffett and psychotic "Parrot Heads" and its up to McDonald and James Ingram to rescue him. Jason Lee makes a guest appearance as Bacon.

Santa Fe & The Fat City Horns

In the words of founder and leader Jerry Lopez:
"This band is the culmination of the dreams of all of the individual musicians in the band. We all dreamed about what the “ideal” gig would be, and it went something like this:To play music that moved, challenged and inspired us without the usual external restrictions, influences, or boundaries that come with every other (paying)gig,… To make that music with people we love and respect both personally and musically,….. And to be able to share it with others.
That is what Santa Fe & the Fat City horns is about.
The band is a throw back to all the horn bands that influenced us all growing up, as well as a tribute to our musical heroes and friends mixed with our own music and arrangements. Old School and raw, but polished with pride and discipline. I wanted to have the enthusiasm and excitement I had when I was 17 years old about my music!
The first band meeting I had went like this:
“I want each of you to bring in a piece of music that you have always wanted to play but couldn’t get away with in a lounge, showroom, or any other commercial gig. It can be an original piece, a cover, whatever. And then we’re going to have some fun making it our own”.

Dersom vi bruker definisjonen til bluedesert:

As the name indicates West Coast Music has its origin on the American West Coast. The music emphasizes melody, harmonies and arrangements, and the vocal and instrumental performances are always with great skill and of high quality. The music is often performed by pop/rock artists from the American West Coast, but is in no way limited to any geografical area.

    Så er nevnte band spot-on

The Doobie Brothers - Minute By Minute [AFZ 025] (197

    http://www.elusivedisc.com/prodinfo.asp?number=AFGCD025

This is where the "new" Doobie Brothers really made their debut with emphasis on horns and Michael McDonald’s voice and piano. The public loved it, buying more than three million copies. The recording establishment gave Minute By Minute four Grammy Awards, propelling the group to its biggest success ever. Features "What A Fool Believes," "Minute By Minute" and more.

To gjenutgivelser fra Zink Music kommer snart:

Peter Friestedt - LA Project (Expanded Edition)

    Release date: 2010-05-21

Originally released in 2002 and recorded in Los Angeles and Stockholm and features lead vocals performances by Bill Cantos, Michael Ruff, Joseph Williams and Bill Champlin. Among the players we find legendary names, such as Russell Ferrante, Jimmy Haslip, Abraham Laboriel, Brandon Fields, Jeff Richman and Michael Shapiro. We have updated the booklet, adding lyrics and additional liner-notes from Bill Champlin, Bill Cantos, Michael Ruff and Peter himself, designed an overall more up to date look, still using the original cover picture! We also added four bonus tracks, a live version of “Peace Of Mind”, with Bill Cantos from 2004, a cool alternate version of “Livin’ in Your Eyes”, a tremendous instrumental version of “Take A Little Chance” and a never before released instrumental called “Cruisin”.

    Licence - Högt Spel

This debut from Swedish band Licence was released back in 1981, originally on the Signatur label and up until now on LP only! The band toured a lot and released a total of two full length album and was hailed as Sweden’s answer to Airplay. The album is pure excellence and still holds up strong, the vinyl has been a much sought after item among the collectors. Rightly so though the album is tight, well written, performed and produced. We managed to track down the original master tapes, now all carefully remastered with an addition of two bonus tracks, both taken from their 1982 single only “Ännu En Natt/Out Of Control”. Even though all songs are in Swedish, except from one, this one is highly recommended to all fans of the classic sound of Westcoast.

    It's Finally Finished!

    Musikk 9/10
    Lyd: 4/10

    ---

The group has spent time in four state-of-the-art, Los Angeles recording studios, recording all of their new songs. This CD has been almost 3 years in the making!
    http://www.seawindjazz.com/NEWS.HTM
