Her er hva Milkfactory (
http://www.themilkfactory.co.uk) har å si om platen:
Undertow is a journey through ice and snow territory. Reminiscent of the frozen grounds of the North, her music is down to the essential, with very few rhythmic inputs, little recognisable musical instruments, and that incredible voice. Part Nina Simone, part Marianne Faithful, part Sade, Sidsel Endresen dispenses her beautifully crafted lyrics with parsimony. The comparison with the work of her compatriot Geir Jenssen, better known as Biosphere, is unavoidable. Same intensity, same austerity, same enchanting atmospheres. Winter Wind is a whirlwind of quietude; Undertow is magnificent and pure; You Cover Time is tribal. Endresen wrote her album in the purest jazz tradition, by improvising with her band. This gives the songs a definitive free spirit and an absolute precision.
The maturity coming out of Undertow is unmatched, and the talent of Sidsel Endresen is yet to be discovered by most. This is your chance.
