Hi my name is Mattias Vendel,

My daytime job is as an electrician and my friend works at the woodshop as an CNC operator. At weekends and evenings we spend time building the speakers and when I´m not there I do the drawings and designs at home.

Me and my friend have some builds I would like to share.
Until today it´s only subwoofer builds but soon we will start with a ML-TL speaker from Creative Sound Solutions - CSS Criton.2 but there will be a separate thread with info and pictures of all the build stages.

    Hope you enjoy the builds.
I understand that you may think that we are a production company but right now it´s just an hobby which have escalated and the last build with four LMS-R 15 and two Ultimax 15" are two friends we helped building new subwoofers at the Swedish forum to learn more about cabinet design.

    My first DIY:
Dual Sonotube 400mm diameter absolute minimum to fit a 15inch driver
    Amp: Behringer iNuke 6000Dsp
    Drivers: Dayton Audio DVC385-88 15"
Clothing: White leatherette (found very good quality feels like real leather)

The thread continues when I build new cabinets big ported 190liters instead for the Dayton drivers but my wife started to cry when I brought them home to our apartment so I sold them to a friend and made inserts to fit his TC Sounds LMS 4000 12" instead.
The sonotubes was sold including the Dayton drivers and with the money I started to plan a new subwoofer build.

Final result should look like this first picture

Today 6months later they are back for the paint job.

Nice builds ( and wrong wife?)!
Hos would you describe pros and cons regarding the iNukes?
Inukes: There has been a lot of discussions on the Swedish forums in the matter of class D vs the heavy toroidal amps. Conclusion - no one has done a A/B test between the two. We did a short testing at a small event but it should have been done more accuralty and when we all were sober :)
The thing we found out was that his toroidal amp delivered more punch and energy with kickdrums but measurments didn´t show any boost in that region were the subwoofer played.
Thou people have ideas and critic for new measurment tecniques which have not fully driven the amps hard in the infrasonic region for longer duration or below 30Hz at all. There is a test out on the web but that guy did not go below 30Hz... I don´t want to discuss how tests are done becasue I don´t have the knowledge.

Inukes seem to be good value for the money I´m happy with mine. The dsp version offers good features but since you can´t target highpass and EQ below 20Hz I felt that a minidsp would have a lot of more benefits and above all good fullrange sound and LT compensation if needed.
The only thing I use in the inuke now is limiter which is easy to manage to not over power the drivers.
Inuke above the 3000 modell can´t handle loads below 4ohm not sure if one should load the 3000 with 2ohm either but basically the 6000 modell is two bridged 3000 amps that´s why.
Inuke will play down to 10hz no problem but sometimes I think about if the capacitor power is enough to handle it with good control and hit hard not sloppy.

Still I´m curios to test a t.amp 2400MKX which I found to be good value toroidal but I don´t have the money for playing around like that now. Maybe the t.amp proline 3000 if I build other subwoofers in the future.

    Thanks!

We will try to step up a few notches with the speaker kit from CSS and do something innovative with the design after that we have a speaker we want to be our own design cabinet and floorstand but we will need the experience from the ML-TL build to learn more about speakerbuilding.
