Mr Brier - Goldbug MC
This MC cartridge has had 20 hours use since it came back from a full-service by cartridge maestro Dominic Harper at Northwest Analogue in the UK. He fitted a new cantilever and stylus and checked out coils and suspension - everything working as per spec.
So how does it sound? Absolutely marvellous. It's the sound/tone/presentation people have been after for years but never quite achieved. Combines all the qualities from other "mainstream" cartridges without any compromise in some areas.
Bass is deep, solid and detailed , midrange is sweet and the highs are extended but not glassy/bright. Frequency response sounds flat with no obvious lift at any frequency. There is a wealth of detail and it feels like I could listen for hours without "fatigue".
