The Nighthawk Headphone Amplifier is an all solid-state design, based on a new monolithic JFET device with exceptional sonic qualities. The combination of a well-designed front end and this Class A discrete complementary output stage yields tremendous speed and bandwidth for very accurate musical reproduction.

The power supply is again designed with very low noise and over-spec’d parts to be optimized for superb audio performance. All internal components of the Nighthawk Headphone Amplifier are thus optimized to maximize sonic potential and exhibit Audio Electronics sonic signature, which does not sound like typical solid-state equipment.

De viste den fram to versjoner på CES 2012

Men det er jo ikke Audio Electronics - dette er Cary under eget hoved-navn. Skjønner ikke hvorfor de gidder styre med to "brands". Audio Electronics skal liksom være budsjett-merket.

Så da er det altså Nighthawk + de to nedenfor. Alt fra Cary men den ene er fra Audio Electronics som er Cary likevel.

CES-report 2012:

A second system in the room featured headphone listening using AKG K702 Reference
Headphones through a choice of our CAD-300SEI single-ended triode tube integrated amplifier,
our new HH-1 hybrid tube headphone amplifier, or SH-1 solid-state headphone amplifier. The
music was sourced from our MS-1 music server played through our Xciter DAC.
The new headphone amplifiers are the first products in a new series of smaller electronics, yet still with the full range of Cary Audio sound and quality. The two high performance headphone amplifiers were shown for the first time at the 2012 CES, one solid-state and one hybrid tube/Mosfet. Both models are brand new designs featuring low output impedance and high current capability, allowing them to drive the most difficult headphones with ease.
